Situated in a perfect location overlooking the Solent with the Isle of Wight in the background the event is jointly organised by Portsmouth City Council and The Kite Society of Great Britain.
With a great lineup of kite artists attending from Europe and beyond, this year’s Kite Festival will offer another exciting weekend of unique entertainment. On 23, 24 and 25 August the skies above Southsea will fill with an incredible array of beautiful and colourful kites, with plenty of other activities for the whole family to enjoy.
This year celebrates Portsmouth Kite Festival’s 23rd anniversary, and welcomes a
number of guest flyers from years past, bringing them back to Southsea Common to
showcase their creations and skills alongside some brand-
“We have some wonderful new flyers and makers coming to the festival this year, and we are so excited to bring back some of our favourites from the past,” explained festival organiser Gill Bloom. “It’s a lot of work to pull this festival together, but with the help of Portsmouth City Council, this year’s festival is shaping up to be even better than ever.
The theme this year in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War is turn of the 20th Century Historical Kites (original or replica).
